Grain Inspection Fees and Charges

Effective Date: June 6, 2013, "Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) must approve all fees for official services and OA's will assess only those fees appearing on their current approved fee schedule."

Regular Hours: 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.

Regular Hourly Rates: Samplers/Technicians/Weigher $19.00 and Inspector $23.50, Clerical $20.50 assessed in quarter-hour increments.

All requests for service will be honored as soon as possible on a first call, first service basis. All requests for service should be ordered by 2:00 P.M. the preceeding day or the proceeding Friday for the weekend.

Travel Time Rates: All travel time will be assessed at applicable hourly rate.

Standby Rates: Will be charged at applicable hourly rate.

Overtime Hourly Rate: One and one-half times the regular hourly rate for time exceeding the regular hours and Saturday, assessed in quarter hour increments.

Sunday and Holiday Rate: Double the regular hourly rate in addition to unit fees, in quarter hour increments.

Holidays include: New Year's Eve and Day; President's Day; Good Friday; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day;  Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Mileage: The IRS standard mileage rate will be assessed per mile actual miles travel. Any change to the mileage rate is effective when the IRS changes their standard mileage rate. Mileage and travel time will be prorated where possible. Actual mile traveled exceeding a 5 mile radius of inspection laboratory, prorated whenever possible.

 

Effective Date: June 6, 2013

Minimum Fee: A four-hour minimum at the applicable hourly rate will be assessed for service requests cancelled after personnel have departed office. A minimum of 5 containers per trip plus the unit fees and hourly rate as applicable.

In addition to the following unit fees, sampler, travel, and or standby time will be assessed in quarter hour increments, and mileage will be assessed for all services. Travel time will be assessed portal to portal. Samplers and inspectors time will be assessed when requested to remain on site.

Onsite Lab staffing: Applicable hourly rate, for one Inspector and one or two Technicians plus miles and inspection fees.

Personnel Safety: At times, the need for two people to sample hopper cars may result in additional cost to applicant. When less than six cars are to be probed and if a man is provided by the elevator for safety, on sampler will perform the requested service, otherwise 2 samplers will be required.

The sampling hourly rate, travel time, and mileage when applicable will be assessed in addition to the unit fee. The unit fees include FGIS user fees.

A. Official Sample-Lot Inspection: (White Certificate)

1. Rail Car $15.00
2. Truck or trailer, per unit $ 8.80
3. Barge and bulk lot inspection, per 1,000 bushel or fraction of $ 3.50
4. Reinspection, basis new sample, same as applicable carrier fee.  
5. Reinspection, basis file sample $10.00
6. Warehouseman Sample-Lot Inspection $ 6.30
7. Containers, composite grade, each (minimum of 5 containers per trip) $17.50
8. Containers, individually graded, each (minimum of 5 containers per trip) $19.65
9. Container weights plus hourly rate (minimum of 5 containers per trip) $ 4.30
10. Indentity preserved shipping bins will be billed at the number of containers loaded from the sealed shipping bin at $17.50 per container rate.  
11. Phytosanitary inspection, per container $17.50
12. Bag/bin sampling/inspection at warehouse facility, per hour $38.00
13. Railcar stowage exam when not immediately preceding sampling $ 2.00

8. Aflatoxin testing (Qualitative or Quantitavtive) $30.00

13. Insect damaged kernel count (wheat) Based on 100grams $ 5.00
14. Minimum charge for barge D/T cancellation after loading has commenced $50.00

16. Weighing (Class X or Class Y per carrier certificated) $ 4.30
17. Fax Copy $1.00 per sheet, maximum of $10.00, plus the expense of long distance phone charges.  
18. Individual file sample request on composite container booking $ 1.00
19. Railcar sealing (seals provided by applicant, per car) $ 0.50
20. Railcar sealing (seals provided by Easter Iowa Grain) $ 1.00
21. Revisions to certificatino after instructions have already been provided and paperwork processed. Clerical hourly fee charged in 1/4 hour increments  

 

Official commercial inspection services are available upon request.

Official Services not covered by the above fee will be charged at the applicable hourly rate.
